Introduction:
The podiatry service aims to help people keep their feet in good condition. It explains how to avoid developing foot problems and how to cope with foot problems.
The podiatry team provides a service to people with:
- chronic medical conditions that affect their feet such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.
- patients in need of minor surgery such as surgical removal of corns or toenails under local anaesthetic.
- people who have mechanical problems that can be helped by special insoles and exercise regimes.
They also offer a service for people who cannot look after their own feet because of illness or infirmity, but wherever possible they encourage people to manage their own feet.
